Navoi International Airport welcomed Temur Mirzayev, adviser to the head of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, and Erslan Gazali Ibrahim, founder and chief executive of EGI Resources.

The visit focused on expanding the airport’s potential as an international logistics and aviation hub and on prospects for new investment projects.

A key subject was developing Navoi into an important logistics centre connecting freight flows between Europe, the CIS and Asia, using its multimodal opportunities based on integrated air, rail and road transport.

Particular attention was paid to developing an MRO — Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul — centre and attracting investment into this area. An MRO centre would expand aircraft maintenance, repair and servicing capabilities.

EGI Resources is an Indonesia-based diversified company operating in energy and infrastructure, real estate, aviation, pharmaceuticals, IT and other sectors. Aviation services and infrastructure are among its main areas of activity.

The meeting identified prospects for cooperation in expanding international cargo routes, increasing Navoi’s transit and logistics potential and implementing promising MRO investment projects.
